the city for this story is called Enpher, which is a mispronunciation and mispelling of "enfer"~ so you're 100% correct.

I'm actually a little more familiar with spanish than I am french, but I have some knowledge due to the fact that where I live, it's more or less mandatory for us to learn it for a certain amount of years in school.
